Color is not real.

Color is not real. It changes, fluctuates, and is transitory by its very nature. Color is poetry. Why do we study color? Why is it important? Color may be the most underrated of all of the fundamental elements of design and yet it may be the most important and powerful. A single patch of color can communicate more than words themselves. A single hue can represent joy or sadness.

Color is, in some sense, most closely related to music. They both have rhythm and harmony and are used to add emphasis and feeling. They can play directly on our senses and emotions and bypass our conscious minds, or they can be used for purely intellectual pursuits.

I am working on a piece that is derived from color. The emotion and mood the viewer responds to as they make sense of the imagery. Through this is the power of color

paraffin, bees wax & resin

The thrilling experience of heating up bees wax and using a heat gun....haven't burned the place down yet!

Arriving with non-objective solutions in making art from abstractions of a place. Intellectual, remote responses to the subject.

I stared at the bottom of pools hours apon hours a day for 12 plus years of my childhood.  The smell of the chlorine, the cold water, the boiling water, the dirty water, the workouts, the dedication, discipline, and passion I had.
